# Release notes

Public releases are listed here newest first. Recordstead opens this page after
an update. To check which version you have, see [Find the version you are
running](https://docs.recordstead.app/troubleshooting/find-your-version).

## 1.8.0

2026-10-18

**New**

- [Send each meeting to an Obsidian vault or a folder](https://docs.recordstead.app/meetings/send-to-obsidian-or-a-folder) by itself once processing is done or as soon as recording stops, and keep the note up to date when the meeting changes.
- [Run one of your shortcuts, or a command on this Mac](https://docs.recordstead.app/automation/run-a-shortcut-or-command), for each meeting, with the meeting as JSON.
- [Send each meeting to a web address](https://docs.recordstead.app/automation/send-to-a-webhook), such as a Zapier, Make or n8n hook or your own server, as signed JSON.
- A webhook is the only integration that sends meeting text off your Mac: nothing leaves until you agree to the address and what it gets, a remote address must use HTTPS, and [what leaves your Mac](https://docs.recordstead.app/your-data/what-leaves-your-mac) now lists it.
- Choose for each integration which workspaces it sends from and which parts go: the summary, the transcript, your tasks and your notes.
- Meetings you already have, including one still in progress when you set up an integration, can be sent to it in one go.
- When an integration's folder is in Documents, Desktop, Downloads, iCloud Drive or on another drive, macOS may ask once whether Recordstead can use it.

## 1.7.0

2026-10-16

**New**

- [Take your own notes in a meeting](https://docs.recordstead.app/meetings/take-notes): they save as you type, a time in brackets links to that moment of the transcript, and your notes are never used to write the summary.
- [Add a note from the menu bar during a call](https://docs.recordstead.app/meetings/take-notes#add-a-note-during-a-call), stamped with the time in the call.
- Find text in your notes when you [search your meetings](https://docs.recordstead.app/meetings/search-meetings), and [export them](https://docs.recordstead.app/meetings/export-transcript) in their own file.
- [Connected assistants](https://docs.recordstead.app/assistants/connect-an-assistant) can read your notes on meetings in the workspaces you turn on for them.
- [Edit a meeting's summary](https://docs.recordstead.app/summaries/edit-a-summary) in place; the version it replaced is kept so you can restore it, and an edited summary is labelled as edited by you.
- [Rewrite a whole transcript passage](https://docs.recordstead.app/meetings/correct-a-transcript#rewrite-a-whole-passage) in place, without selecting words first.
- [Edit a task's words or due date](https://docs.recordstead.app/meetings/your-tasks), and searching for tasks again keeps the ones you edited.

**Improved**

- [Connected assistants](https://docs.recordstead.app/assistants/connect-an-assistant) search every workspace you turn on for them at once, and can look for exact phrases, alternatives or excluded words, sort by date and filter by speaker.
- While Recordstead is still working on a meeting, it no longer lets you [delete](https://docs.recordstead.app/your-data/delete-a-meeting) or [move](https://docs.recordstead.app/meetings/move-to-workspace) it or remove its workspace, offers only the commands that can run, and says why speaker review cannot open yet.
- The menu bar shows when an imported file's audio is being copied, and describes waiting meetings in the same words as the Meetings list.
- The setup guide no longer promises a summary when the processing you choose does not make one.

**Fixed**

- After a quit, crash or [battery pause](https://docs.recordstead.app/processing/on-battery), Recordstead no longer asks you to continue processing a meeting that resumes on its own or is only waiting for [speaker names](https://docs.recordstead.app/people/name-speakers).
- The menu bar and notifications say a summary is ready only when one was saved, and otherwise say the transcript was saved.
- When a summary fails after the transcript was saved, the menu bar says the transcript was kept instead of saying it could not be created.
- A failed summary stays marked as failed when you confirm speaker names afterwards, instead of being followed by a success notification.
- A summary that cannot start, for example without a license or a summary provider, shows as failed on Home and in the Meetings list instead of waiting.
- A missing local summary model sends one notification, the one that offers to download it, instead of two.
- Re-analyzing speakers while you review them no longer repeats the review notification and Dock bounce.
- Home describes an out-of-date summary in the same words as the Meetings list.
- You can no longer move a meeting while its speaker names are saving, which put their voices in the old workspace.
- Naming a meeting with AI no longer replaces a name you typed while it was working.
- You are told when Recordstead cannot move an imported file's original to the Trash.
- Canceling a meeting's processing stops only that meeting's work and no longer leaves it shown as running.
- The automation API no longer reports an earlier error for a meeting that finished after a retry.
- The built-in summary model no longer risks a crash on an M1 Mac when part of its work runs on the processor.
- Open-source license notices in the app name each component's own copyright holder.

## 1.6.0

2026-10-13

**New**

- [Choose which workspaces a connected assistant can use](https://docs.recordstead.app/assistants/connect-an-assistant): it reads and changes meetings only in the workspaces you turn on, and learns how many others exist but not their names.
- After you update, every workspace starts off for assistants, including access you already allowed, so turn on the ones your assistant should keep using.
- A new workspace stays off for assistants until you turn it on, and turning assistant access off turns every workspace off again.

**Improved**

- Turning a built-in [summary template](https://docs.recordstead.app/summaries/protocol-templates) or its automatic detection on or off now applies only to the workspace you are in, and your earlier choices carry over to every existing workspace.
- The agreement you confirm before allowing assistant access is shorter and no longer suggests that the assistant itself stays on your Mac.
- Connected assistants can tell which problems they can fix themselves and which only you can, and they stop retrying for a summary or transcript that is not on its way.

**Fixed**

- Your side of a recording and the live transcript are no longer silent when your microphone has three or more channels or carries your voice on its second channel.
- The [live transcript](https://docs.recordstead.app/recording/live-transcript) shows far fewer of the other side's words as yours when sound from your headphones reaches your microphone, and hides fewer of your own replies.
- You can move the live transcript pill by dragging any part except its buttons; use its expand button to bring the window back.

## 1.5.2

2026-10-12

**Fixed**

- You can delete a meeting that is waiting for a license after [your trial ends](https://docs.recordstead.app/getting-started/start-trial) or your license is removed.
- The menu bar no longer shows such a meeting as being written up while it waits for a license.

## 1.5.1

2026-10-10

**Fixed**

- You can [finish eligible older meetings](https://docs.recordstead.app/processing/choose-processing-depth) after your trial ends, including their first summary when the original processing level is unknown.
- You can continue initial processing after a queue wait, restart or speaker review without losing the meeting’s included access.
- Your saved transcript and summary are reused when processing resumes, and a saved task search is not repeated.
- You can collapse the live transcript window without an unexpected quit.
- You see the appropriate pointer when hovering over expandable and clickable live transcript controls.
- Your menu-bar workspace lists have room for names, fit their contents and scroll when needed, with full names available on hover.

## 1.5.0

2026-10-09

**New**

- [Follow calls with a live transcript](https://docs.recordstead.app/recording/live-transcript) in a floating window or your meeting's transcript tab, with adjustable text size and copying, processed on your Mac with or without a license.
- Your live transcript saves during recording and remains available alongside the final transcript; quitting normally waits for saving to finish.
- [Follow a call without recording or saving it](https://docs.recordstead.app/recording/live-transcript-only), and copy any text you need before stopping.
- [Connected assistants](https://docs.recordstead.app/assistants/connect-an-assistant) can read your meeting tasks and, with editing allowed, check them off, reopen or remove them, with undo available in Recordstead.
- Check assistant connections in Settings and find confirmed problems on Home, with guidance for fixing them.

**Improved**

- Interrupted recordings retain their original meeting, workspace and processing choice when recovered, while discarded recordings stay discarded.
- The Dock icon draws your attention to [pending speaker review](https://docs.recordstead.app/people/name-speakers) and opens it when clicked.
- Menu bar toolbar buttons show clearer hover feedback.

**Fixed**

- Your [automatic call detection](https://docs.recordstead.app/recording/call-detection) choice survives restarting Recordstead.
- Saving speaker names completes pending review and resumes processing without repeating the review after a restart.
- Export confirmations and other notices keep appearing after you close Settings.
- You can [delete saved voices](https://docs.recordstead.app/people/recognize-people) while recognition is off, without changing names in past meetings.
- [Opening your latest summary](https://docs.recordstead.app/automation/shortcuts-and-spotlight) works after a restart.
- The purchase page's currency label keeps its intended size after the price loads.

**Removed**

- The ineffective workspace-change action in recording-start notifications; you can still [change the recording's workspace](https://docs.recordstead.app/meetings/move-to-workspace) from the menu bar.

## 1.4.0

2026-10-06

**New**

- Filter Meetings by date, from today or the last 30 days to one day or a range you pick, and narrow the list to meetings that need you. See [Search your meetings](https://docs.recordstead.app/meetings/search-meetings).
- Open Meetings already filtered from Home: a day of your activity, the meeting count for the selected period, or the meetings that need you.

**Improved**

- An unfinished recording move tries again when you connect the drive, without relaunching Recordstead. See [Recording destinations](https://docs.recordstead.app/your-data/recording-destinations).
- The website and documentation use Google Analytics only if you allow analytics cookies, and one choice applies to both, as described in the updated [Privacy Policy](https://recordstead.app/privacy).

**Fixed**

- The notification asking you to review speakers opens the review again, and it now plays a sound.
- Continuing a meeting that was interrupted at speaker naming opens that meeting's speaker review.
- The notice about unfinished moves no longer reappears on every launch; it counts meetings and offers to open the destination settings.
- Your tasks on Home show a speaker's new name as soon as you rename them.
- Pointing at a bar in Home's hours chart says how many calls started in that hour, instead of a number that read like a time.

## 1.3.0

2026-10-05

**New**

- [Connect multiple Google Calendar accounts](https://docs.recordstead.app/calendar/connect-google-calendar) to see your next meeting and open its previous recording from Home.
- [Assign calendars to workspaces](https://docs.recordstead.app/calendar/choose-workspaces) and route automatic recordings there when the matching event has one clear workspace.
- Choose workspaces again when reconnecting cannot confirm the same account, or [remove a connection locally](https://docs.recordstead.app/calendar/disconnect-google-calendar) without revoking Google access.
- After you connect, your Mac reads each account's main calendar directly from Google with read-only access.

## 1.2.0

2026-10-03

**New**

- See the tasks you took on in your meetings, with the words they came from, on Home and in each transcript. See [See the tasks you took on](https://docs.recordstead.app/meetings/your-tasks).
- Copy a task, check it off, reopen or remove it, undo a change, and open its source line by clicking it.
- Find tasks in an older or corrected transcript while keeping the tasks you already finished or removed.
- Sort your tasks by when they were said and see how long each has waited.
- See your meeting totals, open tasks, activity by day and time, most-used apps, people and dictionary corrections for the selected period and workspace.
- See your trial status on Home, enter a license key there, or try your first recording by choosing an audio or video file.
- When you choose an external summary provider, your transcript is sent to that provider again to find your tasks, after your confirmation. See [What leaves your Mac](https://docs.recordstead.app/your-data/what-leaves-your-mac).

**Improved**

- Find meetings waiting for your input and act on them directly from Home, alongside a preview of your latest completed summary that you can copy.
- Scroll task and attention lists inside their cards while the rest of Home stays in place.
- See how many tasks are yours in the notification when a summary is ready.
- Open the download page from the website to see the macOS requirements before installing.
- Downloads are counted as aggregate totals, as described in the updated [Privacy Policy](https://recordstead.app/privacy).

**Fixed**

- Open a transcript at the requested moment immediately, including when you follow a task from Home.
- See a refused or unavailable microphone during setup, with a way to open the relevant macOS settings.
- License email delivery respects a service's requested wait before retrying.
- The trial notice names and links the same current Privacy Policy edition.

**Removed**

- Home's rotating tips and their setting have been replaced by guidance for your first recording and cards for your meetings.
