# Supported languages

Recordstead transcribes 25 languages and writes summaries in the same 25:
Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French,
German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Polish,
Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish and
Ukrainian.

## Choose the spoken language

Recordstead detects the spoken language on its own, also when people in one
meeting speak different languages. Choose a language only if transcripts come
out in the wrong alphabet, for example Polish written in Cyrillic.

1. Open **Settings** (⌘,) → **Transcription**.
2. Choose a **Language**. **Auto-detect** is the default.

**Your result:** recordings transcribed from now on keep to that language's
alphabet. In a meeting that mixes alphabets, such as English and Russian, keep
**Auto-detect**, or one side of the conversation is transcribed in the wrong
letters.

## Choose the summary language

Summaries are written in the **Summary language** set in **Settings** →
**Summary**, English unless you change it. It does not have to match the
