# Delete a meeting

Deleting a meeting from Recordstead is permanent; there is no Trash or undo.
Exports, your backups and recordings already in an external destination remain.
Reconnecting an archive does **not** restore a deleted meeting.

## Delete it

1. Go to **Meetings**.
2. Right-click the meeting, or open it and use its actions menu.
3. Choose **Delete Permanently**.
4. Read the confirmation and confirm.

You can also select one meeting and press the minus button below the list. The
same confirmation appears.

The confirmation says:

> The recording, transcript, summary, and notes are removed from Recordstead and
> can't be recovered here. Exported files, recordings in external destinations, and your own backups aren't touched.

The meeting, its local recording, transcript, live transcript, summary, notes,
search entries and meeting-specific speaker data are removed from Recordstead. Deletion does not
securely overwrite disk blocks.

## The recording may already be gone

If [automatic cleanup](https://docs.recordstead.app/your-data/recording-retention) already removed local
audio, only the remaining library data is left to delete.

## If it will not delete

A meeting cannot be deleted while Recordstead is working on it: processing it,
recording it, or updating its summary, tasks, name or speakers. Wait until that
finishes and try again.
