Send meetings to a web address (webhook)

Recordstead can send each meeting as JSON to a web address, such as a Zapier, Make or n8n hook or your own server. Unlike the other integrations, this sends meeting text off your Mac, to the address you set.

  1. Open Settings (⌘,) › Integrations.
  2. Click + under the list and choose Webhook.
  3. Paste the address into URL. It must start with https://, unless the server runs on this Mac.
  4. Click Copy next to the secret and give it to your server, so it can check that requests come from Recordstead.
  5. Click Send Test to send an invented meeting that has every part you chose.
  6. Click Save. For an address outside this Mac, Recordstead first names the address and what it will get, and asks you to agree. Click Use This Address.

Your result: each meeting you record or add from now on is sent to that address. The row shows when it last sent. For meetings you already have, including one that was in progress, choose Send Earlier Meetings in ⋯.

A POST with one JSON object, the same fields a shortcut or a command gets, and three headers from the Standard Webhooks spec: webhook-id, webhook-timestamp and webhook-signature. A library for that spec checks the signature with the secret as you copied it. A retry keeps its webhook-id, so your server can ignore a repeat; every change gets a new one. A meeting over 1.5 MB is sent without its transcript.

New Secret makes another one; your server must then use it.

The row says what the address answered and when Recordstead tries again. A busy or unreachable address is tried again by itself. An address that refuses, says it is gone or redirects elsewhere is not; fix it, then choose Try Again in ⋯. If you change the address or send more parts, Recordstead asks you to agree again.

With Processing is done, a meeting whose summary failed waits until it has one, and the row does not show it. Use Generate on the meeting’s Summary step; once the summary is made, the meeting is sent.
