Connect an AI assistant to your meetings
An assistant running on your Mac can read your meetings and answer questions about them. Recordstead writes the setup instructions for you, so there is nothing to configure by hand and no key to paste anywhere.
Turn access on
Section titled “Turn access on”- Open Settings… (⌘,) and select AI Assistants.
- Switch on Allow AI assistants to access your meetings.
- Recordstead asks Allow AI assistants to access your meetings? and describes what an assistant will be able to read. Tick I understand that what an assistant reads may leave this Mac. and press Allow Access.
Hand the setup to your assistant
Section titled “Hand the setup to your assistant”Under Connect your assistant, press Copy and paste the message into your assistant. The message tells it where to read the instructions and where this copy of Recordstead is, and it sets itself up from there.
If your assistant is driven from a terminal instead, open Set up in Terminal instead, pick your client, and paste the single command it shows.
Then ask the assistant to list your meetings.
What it can read
Section titled “What it can read”The pane lists this under Connected assistants can read: your workspaces, your meeting list, search results, summaries, stretches of transcript, and your Dictionary terms.
Recordings and audio paths stay out of reach. No assistant can reach the audio, and none can be handed a path to it.
Changing things is a separate switch
Section titled “Changing things is a separate switch”Reading is all an assistant can do until you switch on Let assistants make changes, which is off by default and allows renaming meetings and editing Dictionary terms. Nothing else becomes writable.
Two things that will look like faults
Section titled “Two things that will look like faults”Access works only while Recordstead is running. Close the app and the assistant loses its connection, with nothing needing to be registered again.
If the description of what assistants can read ever changes, access closes until you read the new wording and confirm it. That is deliberate: what you agreed to is what stays in force.
Result
Section titled “Result”Your assistant answers a question about one of your past meetings.
