Correct a word the transcript got wrong
Transcription mishears names, product names and jargon, and the same word is usually wrong in several places in the same meeting. A correction fixes the text you select, and can fix every other match in that meeting at the same time. You can also have the correction applied to everything recorded from then on.
Correct a word
Section titled “Correct a word”- Go to Meetings and open the meeting.
- Open the Transcript tab and select the word or phrase that is wrong.
- Right-click the selection and choose Correct…, or choose the same command from the meeting's actions menu. It is available only while something is selected.
- The sheet shows the Recognized text it is about to replace. Type the right spelling under Correct form, or start typing and pick one of your saved terms from the list that appears.
- Press Correct.
Choose how far the correction reaches
Section titled “Choose how far the correction reaches”The sheet offers two switches, and both start on.
Correct all 4 matches in this transcript fixes every other place the same phrase appears in that meeting, and the number counts them. It appears only when there are at least two matches, and the count follows what you type: a match already spelled the way you are typing drops out of it. Turn it off to change only the text you selected.
Remember for future transcripts saves the correction as a term, so everything transcribed afterwards uses the right spelling without being asked. Turn it off for a one-time fix, such as a word that was simply misspoken.
Neither switch reaches meetings that were recorded earlier. A saved term applies to future transcripts, not to the archive.
Update the summary afterwards
Section titled “Update the summary afterwards”A summary is written from the transcript, so correcting the transcript does not change a summary that already exists. To carry the corrections into it, open the meeting's actions menu and choose Update Summary, which writes the summary again from the stored transcript.
Result
Section titled “Result”The transcript shows the corrected spelling in every place the correction covered. With Remember for future transcripts left on, the term is listed under Dictionary, and later recordings are transcribed with it.
If something went wrong
Section titled “If something went wrong”Press ⌘Z to undo the correction while the meeting is still open.
Undo has a defect in this build. It can remove a spelling that another saved term was using, and it does not always put the transcript back. After undoing a correction you chose to remember, open Dictionary and check the term you were correcting toward: if a spelling it used to accept is gone, add it again there. Correcting a word a second time is safe and does not depend on the undo.
A correction is refused when the corrected form is empty or identical to what is already on screen, and the button stays unavailable until it differs.
