Check for a Recordstead update

You can check manually even if automatic updates are off.

  1. Open Settings… (⌘,) › General › Software Update.
  2. Click the circular arrow at the end of the version row.
  3. Read the line below it. Up to date means no newer build is offered to you. If one is available, the row names it and offers Update now.

Your result: you know whether a new build is available for your Mac. If the row says Couldn't check for updates, reconnect to the network and try the same button again. A recording in progress holds update activity until it ends.

To change background behavior, adjust the automatic update settings.
