Move your meetings to another Mac
Your meetings are encrypted with a key that belongs to this Mac. Copying the folder is therefore only half of a move: the other Mac needs a transfer code before it can read what you copied.
Get the code first. It comes from the Mac the meetings are on, and that Mac has to be working.
Get the transfer code
Section titled “Get the transfer code”- Open Settings… (⌘,) and select General.
- Find Your meetings, and under Move to another Mac press Get Transfer Code….
- A sheet titled Your transfer code shows it. Press Copy Code, put it somewhere safe, and tick I have saved this code.
The code is shown once and is not stored. Recordstead cannot show it to you again. A password manager is the right place for it; a note in the same folder you are about to copy is not, because anyone with both can read your meetings.
Leaving without saving it costs nothing: you simply get a different code next time.
Copy the folder
Section titled “Copy the folder”The same section shows the folder to copy and offers Show in Finder. Close Recordstead, then copy that folder to the other Mac by any means you like: Migration Assistant, an external disk, a network share.
Unlock them on the other Mac
Section titled “Unlock them on the other Mac”Install Recordstead there and open it. It finds meetings it cannot read and asks about them, on a screen headed Meetings found from another Mac. Enter the transfer code and press Unlock Meetings.
Result
Section titled “Result”The other Mac opens your meetings, and the same code still works if you ever move again.
If you did not save the code
Section titled “If you did not save the code”The meetings cannot be recovered. That is what the encryption is for, and nothing about it is a Recordstead setting: without the key there is no difference between your archive and any other unreadable file. Get a fresh code from the Mac they came from while it still works.
